On Facebook, you're represented by your Profile a page that tells the world who you are. To some extent, your Facebook Profile also represents you on the web as a whole, since people searching for you online will be able to view some or all of it. Your Profile can include information about your background, interests, hobbies, relationships, and more or none of these things at all. The choice is yours.
About Your Profile
It's up to you to decide how much information you feel comfortable sharing on Facebook. As you fill out your Profile, you'll see that Facebook asks for information about your relationships, hobbies, location, educational background, and more. Don't feel pressured to include any information you don't want to. You can leave any part of your Profile blank and still be able to use and enjoy Facebook.
To navigate to your Profile, click the Profile link (your Avatar ) in the top toolbar.
Creating Your Profile
There are two parts of your Profile: The main page, which is the page that appears when you or anyone else navigates to your Profile. The main page includes your Profile picture and Timeline. The info page, which includes the personal details and information you've shared.
Understanding Likes and Interests .When you filled out the Info page of your Profile, did you include information about things like your favorite music, movies, and hobbies?
Your friends will be able to go to the Likes section of your Profile and see your Likes and Interests represented by small thumbnail images. Each of these images is a link to a Fan page or Topic page about a particular Like or Interest.
The information you share about Likes and Interests is very valuable to Facebook. Facebook and other sites can use it to market, advertise, and make suggestions to you based on your interests. This is a regular practice now, we don’t even notice it (almost). Facebook has found a fun way to monetize the traffic (you and your commercial “Likes” and “Interests) it gets on it’s site.
If you are uncomfortable with any of this, be careful about what interests you connect with orwhat you like on Facebook. Here are a few of the places you might see your Likes and Interests around Facebook: Your Likes and Interests may be included in your Profile when people conduct a public search for you. If job-hunting or applying for college you may want to make sure your interests and hobbies wont make you look bad. All candidates for employment should expect their facebook account to be review by the vetting department (and possibly monitored).
This is just the modern times we live in L Any interests you connect with or Like can be posted to your Timeline or to your Friends' News Feeds for your Friends to see. This can be mildly embarrassing or very revealing depending on the kind of things you may be showing an interest in.
